  2. We Build a Plan Around You

Your schedule, your needs, and your comfort shape the plan from the very start. We adjust as things change, so care keeps fitting your family instead of the other way around.

  3. Our caregivers are carefully chosen.

Every caregiver goes through hiring and screening before joining Cottage. We also try to match each caregiver to your relative's needs, routine, and personality.

  4. We Explain Your Payment Options Clearly

Start with private pay. Or ask about Maryland Medicaid options, like Community First Choice and the Community Options Waiver. Either way, our team explains what Cottage needs from you, what is already done, and what comes next.

Cottage Home Care Maryland LLC holds RSA License No. 02496 through the Maryland Department of Health, Office of Health Care Quality. This license covers non-medical home care services. It does not mean Cottage provides nursing, therapy, or other skilled medical care.

Maryland Community First Choice (CFC)

Community First Choice is a Maryland Medicaid benefit, not a waiver. It helps pay for personal care at home. It is for people who need an institutional level of care but live at home instead. There is no age limit. Full Medicaid is required. Maryland decides who qualifies, and services must be approved first. In some cases, a qualifying family member can provide approved care and get paid. Ask us how CFC might fit your situation.

Community Options Waiver

The Community Options Waiver has another name. Some call it the Home and Community-Based Options Waiver, or HCBOW. It is for adults age 18 and older. It is also for people who need a nursing facility level of care. Applicants must meet financial and technical rules too. New community applicants usually go on a registry, where movement can take time. Maryland Access Point is part of the application process. Community Options participants can also receive other Medicaid benefits, including CFC.

Private-Pay Home Care

With private pay, you pay for care directly. There is no Medicaid application and no waiting on approval. We talk through your schedule and build a plan around your needs. Scheduling still depends on caregiver availability, even with private pay. Pricing depends on your current plan, so ask us for current Washington County rates. Many families start with private pay while a Medicaid application is still in progress.

Still have a question?(667) 400-0648

Non-medical home care means hands-on daily help, not medical treatment. It can include bathing, dressing, meals, light housekeeping, companionship, and medication reminders. It does not include skilled nursing, wound care, or therapy. Those services fall under home health care instead. Home health care is clinical, and Medicare or Medicaid may cover it differently.

There is no single best agency for every family. Instead, compare a few things. Look at the services offered and Maryland licensing. Ask how caregivers are screened. Compare scheduling, cost, and communication. The right fit depends on your needs, not a ranking.

Home care cost depends on the hours you need, your schedule, and the type of support involved. It also depends on how you pay, such as private pay or a Maryland Medicaid program like CFC. Call us for current Washington County pricing.

Maryland Medicaid can pay for some home care. Maryland decides who qualifies, not Cottage. Two programs often apply. One is Community First Choice, a Medicaid benefit. The other is the Community Options Waiver, which has a registry for new applicants. Either way, services must be approved before they start. We can explain how each one works.

In some cases, yes. Maryland's Community First Choice program has a self-directed option. Under that option, a qualifying family member or another approved person may provide care and get paid. Maryland sets the rules for who qualifies, not Cottage. Some agency-based roles do not allow a family member to be paid to care for a relative they also represent. Ask us which paid family caregiver options may fit your situation.

Yes. After a hospital or rehab stay, many people need extra help at home. A caregiver can help with bathing, dressing, meals, light household tasks, and moving safely around the home. This support is non-medical. If your relative needs nursing care, wound care, or physical therapy, that care must come from a licensed home health provider.

We serve families throughout Washington County. That includes Hagerstown, Williamsport, Boonsboro, and Smithsburg. It also includes Funkstown, Hancock, and Clear Spring.
