Our Adult Family Living program lets you get paid to care for a parent, spouse, or friend at home. We're already in your county, so the caregiver who shows up is often someone who lives near you, not someone driving in from across the state.

Medicaid Required
Must have Connecticut Medicaid (Title 19). Medicare alone does not qualify.
Age 65 or Older
The person receiving care must be 65 years of age or older and live in Connecticut.
Same Household
The caregiver must live in the same house as the person receiving care.
Daily Living Needs
Must need help with day-to-day activities and be able to direct care (or have a representative).
Who Can Be a Caregiver
Adult child (18+), relative, or friend — generally not a legal spouse or legally liable relative.
DSS counts your total gross monthly income before deductions, including Medicare premiums:
Only your income is counted — not your spouse's.

Who Can Be a Caregiver
The most meaningful part of our Connecticut programs is that you choose who provides care. A loved one can be trained, enrolled, and paid to fully support you — never a hired stranger.
Eligible caregivers include family members, friends, and trusted community members. In some cases, even a spouse may qualify.
